Such a lovely chair! It sold before I had time to write a label and load it onto the website!!
I found this chair with the original fabric still attached which is a pretty rare thing. It also had the Utility Scheme CC41 label attached to the fabric which means the chair is a nice early one dating no later than 1952 when the Utility Scheme ended.
As I was buying the chair a lady standing next to me declared that the fabric was possibly a Tibor Reich original which would be pretty exciting! Reich did produce fabrics for Ercol but I can't be sure of the dates, I'll have to do a bit more research! I ve included some pictures of the chair as I found it, before re upholstery (sorry for the bad quality of the pics!)
Thorody's 'Hoof' design, printed in dark navy on a natural flax linen seemed a perfect choice for the chair. I wanted to keep it simple, graphic, modern and understated and I think this worked beautifully.
